SGI Belly Dance Classes with Stefanie Masters

Sundays from 6-7pm

SGI or Synchronized Group Improvisation is taught in Kajira Djoumanhna’s BlackSheep Dance format. Students will learn a set vocabulary of belly dance movements, cues, chorus structure, and formations. This style allows for improvisational group dancing, is exciting, and fosters strength and connection with other dancers. Students will move together as one unit, inviting many possibilities for creative expression. Bring your finger cymbals! This is a mixed belly dance class geared towards absolute beginners through intermediate dancers.

DFTS or Dance For The Soul Style is taught in Stefanie's unique format, inspired by American Cabaret & Turkish styles of dance, with a focus on holistic breathing and movement. Paying close attention to correct posture, conscious breathing and focusing skills students will be given the tools necessary to express themselves whole-heartedly in the dance. The DFTS Masters Method incorporates Stefanie’s 10 Steps of Texturing that builds on basic technique. These texturing techniques allow even a beginner dancer with no previous experience to go home after their first class and move their bodies with confidence! The DFTS Method is rooted in Stefanie's personal philosophy of inspiring success through adjusted posture, breath, thought patterns, and body awareness through movement. Bring your finger cymbals! This is a mixed belly dance class geared towards absolute beginners through intermediate dancers.

Yoga, Meditation & Breathwork Programs
Are you busy with family, career, or other responsibilities and never seem to find the time to just relax and recharge? Never tried Yoga, Meditation, or Breathwork? Or perhaps you already have a personal practice but want to go deeper to facilitate extensive healing? Programs are created based on individual needs to help with stress reduction, managing chronic pain, weight loss, strength and flexibility training, and mental/emotional clarity.
All programs include yoga poses, breathwork, and meditation. These programs take into account individual needs on all levels, including time and environment. Students are gently guided through the process of understanding proper foundation, alignment, and breathwork while moving in and out of poses. These programs are designed using Viniyoga, Ashtanga, and Iyengar formats of Hatha Yoga.

Secondary Food is nutrition (the food you eat every day), while Primary Food is what nurtures you on a deeper level and includes 4 main areas: Career, Relationships, Physical Activity, and Spirituality. The more quality Primary Food we give ourselves the more fulfilling and magical our lives become, but when any of these areas (Primary Food) become “starved” we can feel stuck, not knowing what direction to take, or not knowing how to reach a specific goal we have set for ourselves, sometimes even feeling depressed, unhappy, or fearful. The DFTS Teacher Training program encompasses the DFTS Method of Improvisation, and The Masters Method of Health, Healing and Living™ and teaches how dance and movement connects us to all things!
Dance helps to bring people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds together. Dance in itself is a holistic form of healing community. Bring people together for a common purpose and great things happen! Dance is a rewarding way to move the body, exercise the mind and free the spirit! As dance instructors, our common purpose is to teach others the joy of moving their bodies in space. Feeling grounded and confident, belonging to something that promotes wellness from deep within. Exercising the body and mind to greater levels of awareness, invoking a feeling of overall peace and wellbeing that overflows to our families and our community! The DFTS Belly Dance teacher training program is a very unique course, in that you will not only focus on the above curriculum but also on your own intense personal growth and healing from within. You will be working on all levels of the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies, while using specific healing modalities, dance, and conscious thought to help facilitate your own personal growth.
The DFTS philosophy encompasses the belief that through breath, posture and movement we can eliminate negative behaviors and thought patterns. Creating a sense of dignity in the body and mind leading to self-respect, self-love, confidence, acceptance, understanding your purpose, feeling connected to your family and community, and ultimately leading you to success in all things!
Being a teacher is so much more than understanding how to breakdown a movement or designing a class structure. A true teacher has the ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their highest potential in life.
